Fuel Cleanup Work Continues

SUISUN CITY, Calif. - A contractor working for Travis Air Force Base has begun excavating soil near the site of a fuel pipeline leak that occurred nearly two years ago.

Working for the Air Force under guidance from Solano County, the contractor will excavate a trench approximately 10 feet wide by 60 feet long to a depth of 12 feet on the shoulder of Highway 12 near Lawler Ranch Parkway.

The soil is being hauled to a certified hazardous waste facility out of the area.

The work is expected to continue through October 26.

No traffic disruptions or public safety hazards are expected related to the current work.

Caltrans Plans Daytime Hwy 12 Closures Near Rio Vista

STATE ROUTE 12 MAINTENANCE REPAIRS NEAR RIO VISTA REQUIRE INTERMITTENT FULL HIGHWAY CLOSURES

SOLANO COUNTY - Caltrans is planning intermittent full highway closures on State Route 12 from Currie Road to Drouin Drive west of Rio Vista starting Tuesday (April 6) and ending Thursday (April 8). >>Click for a quick map of the general work area>>

The entire roadway will be closed for short stints each day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists will be permitted to travel through the work zone, but should anticipate a 15 minute delay.

Maintenance crews will replace damages or missing channelizers and perform other necessary maintenance.

Drivers should watch for stopped vehicles on the highway during the full highway closures. Please drive with caution and allow extra distance between vehicles. Plan ahead and allow sufficient time for your trip. Caltrans appreciates your patience during these repairs.

Highway 12 Improvements Launched

MAJOR TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS COMING SOON

SUISUN CITY - The stretch of Highway 12 from Suisun City to Rio Vista is going to get a lot safer this spring and summer with major roadway improvements designed.

Caltrans, California Highway Patrol, state legislators and Solano Transportation Authority representatives were among those who gathered at the Western Railway Museum here this week to celebrate the ground breaking for the next wave of highway improvments.

Safety enhancements workers will soon begin to install east of Suisun City include:
  • wider shoulders
  • additional centerline channelizers to help separate conflicting traffic
  • new rumble strips, which alert drivers when they drift out of their lane
  • enhanced pavement and more.
