H1N1 Clinics Announced for Sunday

FAIRFIELD - Solano County Public Health will hold two free public H1N1 clinics scheduled for this Sunday, Jan. 31.

The walk-in clinics will administer both the nasal flu mist vaccine and shots for as long as supplies are available.

While anyone wishing to receive the vaccine is welcome. Children age nine and under who received an initial vaccination at least three weeks ago are encouraged to receive a second vaccination, or booster dose.

People in the following high risk groups are particularly encouraged to attend:
  • Pregnant Women
  • Household and caregiver contacts of children younger than 6 months of age (e.g. parents, siblings, and daycare providers)
  • Health Care and emergency medical services providers
  • Persons from 6 months through 24 years of age
  • Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions associated with higher risk of influenza complication

Public Works Seeks Contractor for Waterfront Railing Project

SUISUN CITY - The Suisun City Public Works Department has issued a notice to contractors seeking a qualified firm to conduct annual maintenance on the railing separating the Promenade from the waterway.

The railing, which is about 1,800 feet long, surrounds the north basin of Suisun City Harbor. The project consists of cleaning, sanding, preparing and repainting the existing railings and styles, as well as polishing the top rail and finials. This work is necessary to remove rust and preserve the life of this important safety railing.

All proposals must be submitted by 2 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2010.

The Tintinnabulists & Sylvan Friends in Concert

SUISUN CITY - The Wednesday Club of Suisun proudly presents the Will C. Wood High School Sylvan Singers and Tintinnabulists (hand bell ringers) in "The Tintinnabulists and Sylvan Friends in Concert" as part of the ongoing Young Artists Series.

"The Tintinnabulists and Sylvan Friends in Concert" will perform one show at 2 p.m., Sunday February 7, 2010, at the Wednesday Club of Suisun, 225 Sacramento Street, Suisun City, 94585.

The Wednesday Club of Suisun's 2009-10 Young Artists Series has been a tremendous success with sold-out audiences for 'The Honey Bees,' and Holly Stell with Charlie Baggett.

The Sylvan Choir program is in its 17th year at Will C. Wood High School in Vacaville. The group is in much demand. In addition to their December Madrigal dinner, they have performed recently for the California Retired Teachers Association and will return to the Concordia University invitational for bells festival in February. The group also has been invited to perform at Disneyland's Carnation Plaza Gardens.
