H1N1 Clinics Announced for Sunday

FAIRFIELD - Solano County Public Health will hold two free public H1N1 clinics scheduled for this Sunday, Jan. 31.

The walk-in clinics will administer both the nasal flu mist vaccine and shots for as long as supplies are available.

The clinics will be held Sunday in

• Fairfield, 1-4 p.m. at the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, 2948 Rockville Road
• Vallejo, Noon-4 p.m. at 250 Georgia Street (in coordination with Touro University)
  

While anyone wishing to receive the vaccine is welcome. Children age nine and under who received an initial vaccination at least three weeks ago are encouraged to receive a second vaccination, or booster dose.

People in the following high risk groups are particularly encouraged to attend:

• Pregnant Women
• Household and caregiver contacts of children younger than 6 months of age (e.g. parents, siblings, and daycare providers)
• Health Care and emergency medical services providers
• Persons from 6 months through 24 years of age
• Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions associated with higher risk of influenza complication

NorthBay Healthcare Offers Free H1N1 Vaccinations Today

NorthBay Healthcare will sponsor a trio of free drive-through H1N1 vaccination clinics in Vacaville and Fairfield Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Vaccine is offered free of charge, regardless of health plan affiliation.

Vaccinations begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m., or until the supply of approximately 1,500 doses is exhausted. Both injections and the nasal flu mist vaccine are available.

The drive-through clinics will be conducted at these locations of the NorthBay Center for Primary Care:
• 421 Nut Tree Road, Vacaville
• 2458 Hilborn Road, Fairfield
• 5140 Business Center Drive, Green Valley

The one-day drive-through clinics are open to all people except individuals showing any signs of illness, including respiratory infection, fever, coughing or flu- or cold-like symptoms.

Clinic officials suggest wearing light clothing, or short-sleeve shirts, making it easier to receive the injections.

Another way to shorten the time it takes to get through the line is to fill out a consent form in advance. Those wishing to be vaccinated can find the consent forms for adults and children online at newsroom.northbay.org/fluconsentform.

Free Flu Clinic on Friday

Adults and children can get free flu shots on Friday (Nov. 14) from 2-6 p.m. at West Wind Church, 207 Marina Center, Suisun City. The church is located in the corner of the center at Lotz Way and Port Way.

The free flu shots and the flu nasal mist will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Everyone is welcome to attend this clinic.

Solano County Public Health is providing the free clinic, and will conduct it as a disaster training exercise as it continues to prepare its staff for handling large-scale immunizations.

Another clinic specifically for older residents will be held on Nov. 21 from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Suisun City Senior Center. The flu mist will not be available at the Senior Center clinic.
