Live Summer Shakespeare Both Outdoors and In in Suisun City Waterfront

SUISUN CITY, Calif. - The Solano College Theatre presents Shakepeare's "Love's Labour's Lost," directed by Carla Spindt as a modern-day version of a classic comedy complete with a "Glee" moment. Produced outdoors in the Harbor Square Courtyard (700 Main Street) and in the Harbor Theater (720 Main Street).

Love’s Labour’s Lost is one of the bard's earliest comedies, in which four bachelors who have dedicated themselves to chastity and scholarly pursuits soon encounter the women of their dreams.

In the University of Navarre live a King and his three fellows, who make a 3-year vow to fast to study and to see no women. Soon after this vow has been made a Princess from French Canada arrives with three of her ladies in hopes to see the King to speak of “serious business”. When the eyes of the King and Princess meet, will it be love at first sight? And, will the others want to break their vows? Join us in unraveling the mystery of this comedic performance brought to you by students of Solano Community College of the modern day, Loves Labour’s Lost.

Solano commuters an educated bunch - The Reporter

Solano commuters an educated bunch - The Reporter

Story excerpt:
If you are a commuter, riding a bus, the Baylink Ferry, Amtrak or BART train and surrounded by people from Solano County, then you are in educated company.

More than 27 percent of area residents, or more than one in four, who commute to work outside Solano County have at least a bachelor's degree, according to figures from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Only San Francisco and Alameda counties have more commuters who earned a bachelor's or graduate degrees, said Michael Ammann, president of the Solano Economic Development Corporation.

"The data says that Solano County contributes to the educated workforce that is driving the economic engine of neighboring counties within the northeast Bay," he said in a press release.

Right in the middle of this amazing population sits Suisun City, home to Solano County's Capitol Corridor station.
  • Across the street sits One Harbor Center (a three-story Class One Office Building)
  • Within a short walk Harbor Square (a brand new 40,000 square foot mixed use center with restaurant/retail on the first floor and office uses on the second)
  • New Hampton Inn & Suites Hotel overlooking the water set to open in September.

You need to consider Suisun City for any office relocations:
  • Halfway between the Bay Area and Sacramento
  • Straddling the Capitol Corridor route
  • A dozen unique independent restaurants within an easy walk
  • Plenty of parking
  • Beautiful waterfront setting
  • Community and business leaders focused on building the local economy
  • Educated workforce nearby eager to cut their commute times

Taste of Vacaville coming to Suisun City

By Carol Bogart

SUISUN CITY - If you have been going to Vacaville to dine at the restaurant that Daily Republic readers have voted that city's best the past three years, you might be able to enjoy a similar dining experience in Suisun City by November.

Merchant & Main Grill and Bar owner Bob Tooke has signed a lease to open a 4,000-square-foot restaurant in Harbor Square at Solano and Main streets in Suisun City's Waterfront District.

Tooke said the restaurant's look and menu won't be identical to Merchant & Main's, but he added the as-yet unnamed restaurant will resemble Merchant & Main in that it will be 'casual, comfortable and fun.' The new restaurant will accommodate 130 to 140 diners.

Tooke believes his new restaurant will draw from Suisun City, Fairfield and some of the '30,000 cars that pass by daily on Highway 12,' he said.
